Sprucewood Shores Riesling  2009

Sprucewood Shores Estate Winery has been on a roll lately with their new releases. Three fanastic Chardonnay's, one barrel fermented, one with a little bit of oak and the third with no oak at all. With all the chardonnays going on their Riesling could easily be overlook but you will be missing a real treat if you do.

Excellent value paired with a fanastic Riesling make this a great summer time choice. Looking for a refreshing summer time sipper? This is it. It's light enough to sip on, lots of tree fruit such as peach and lemon followed by a wonderful mineral backbone to make this one the most complete, complex and balanced Rieslings sold in Essex County.

Winemaker’s Notes:
This wine combines the characteristics of dried berry fruit and light cherry notes with fine tannins and vanilla aromas.

The Chambourcin grapes used for this wine were left on the vine until they had reached 20.8 brix, and the Cabernet Franc grapes were harvested at 21.2 brix.

A great wine to be enjoyed with friends around the dinner table.

Winemaker’s Notes:
This wine has lots of vitality. Quite tangy, dry and refreshing so it really livens the palate and makes you hungry. These grape varieties produce a wine with a bright, cheerful character.

The Gamay Noir grapes were harvested in early October when the brix had reached 21.4 and the Zweigelt in mid-September, when the brix had reached 20. They were then left for four to six days in a temperature-controlled rotor fermenter under partial pressure.

This wine is an excellent companion to red meats and game without sauces.

Winemaker’s Notes:
One of our fullest reds, with the warmhearted character that Merlot fans enjoy. A good balance of richness, mellow sweet flavours and the essential bite for food. Delicious now but could be aged a year or two.

These grapes were left on the vine until early October.

This wine would be excellent slightly chilled and served with a beef or lamb dish. A superb choice for the summer BBQ or dinner table.

Winemaker’s Notes:
This wine is best served at room temperature with grilled or roasted red meat, game, ham, roast pork or grilled Atlantic salmon.

Our Pinot Noir is a medium red wine with a leather / tobacco aroma and a distinctive tannic finish.

PINOT NOIR
This Burgundy grape is one of the oldest varieties cultivated by man. On Pelee Island it thrives in a microclimate that enjoys the longest growing season with the greatest amount of heat units in Canada.

Winemaker Notes:
Excellent, smooth, medium bodied wine, softly cellared in our French oak barrels. Lovely finish. A blend of 85% Zweigelt and 15% Cabernet Franc, giving black pepper and current flavours. Zweigelt grows wonderfully here at the Erie Shore. It is an early season blue vinifera. Matched with grilled meats, white meats, roast meats, pork and pizza.
