Winemaker’s Notes:

The sweet floral notes of Gewürztraminer are brought to life by the backbone crisp acidity of Riesling creating perfect balance in this harmonious blend. Originally feeling these two wines were too good to blend our winemaker had only one thing to say … “Touché”

I received a message from Laura who works at Cooper’s Hawk Vineyards telling me come in for a taste of their new blend of Gewürztraminer and Riesling that had just hit the shelf this weekend and it has been selling like crazy.

Not too often I do something like this, it’s a Sunday afternoon, I have no plans so why not head over to the winery to see what all this excitement is all about.

Laura was still at the winery and I could tell by the smile on her face that she knew I was in for a treat.

Friends, readers of this blog …. BUY THIS WINE while you can! When the weather warms up, and that should soon (I hope) this blend is going to be one hot summer sipper. When the summer bus tours start visiting the winery people will be buying this wine the case. So to avoid disappointment, buy some now. I would be very surprised if Cooper’s Hawk has any left by September.

Too often wines aromatic wines don’t follow through on the palate. This one does, and with a touch of sweetness that won’t let you put your glass down. Good thing it’s only 10% alc/vol, it’s easy to sip on and you will want to drink a lot of the blend. Remember I told you to buy a case while you can!

The name of the wine is a result of experimenting with blending Gewürztraminer and Riesling and when Rori McCaw found the right combination of these two grapes she said “Touché”.

Light floral notes, crisp fresh green apple flavours, with a splash of sweetness knock this one out of the park. A home run for sure!
