Smith & Wilson Viognier 2008 Review
Winemaker’s Notes:
(vee-own-yay) A wonderfully floral white from the Northern Rhone valley, this grape carries a creamy mouth feel with notes of honey and stone fruits.
Pleasant Pairings: This is a great wine with food! Spicy – but not hot – flavours, like ginger, turmeric and cumin are good partners here, as are game meats such as goose, turkey, and duck.

If you are coming from Windsor or are visiting other wineries in the Lake Erie North Shore wine region it is worth the extra travel time to visit Smith & Wilson Estate winery just to taste this wine.
In the glass, it is golden yellow. Inviting honey and apricot aromas. Quite heavy on the palate, medium to full body, yet nicely balanced with lively acidity.
Like the nose, honey and apricot fill the taste buds with a creamy textured mouthfeel. The creamy texture contrast the acidity which cleans the palate for a nice finish. May be okay as a sipper but will shine when paired with spicy dishes.
