One of many things that impresses me about Viewpointe Estate Winery is that they do not release wines early. They are willing to hold onto them and let them age so that when you buy a bottle of red from them it’s ready to be opened.
In the glass this wine shows good extraction. Dark cherry red colour with deep concentration.
Nose took a little coaxing to open. Smoky spices, cherry, blueberries and nutmeg finally revealed.
Taste echoes the nose with a little more power, displaying silky tannin structure and acidity balance.
No need to cellar this wine, the winery has done that for you. Open and enjoy right now.
Suggested summertime pairing. Open a bottle when you are having a backyard BBQ. Paired well with BBQ burgers topped with sweet onions.
