CREW Chardonnay 2009 Review
Colchester Ridge Estate Winery (CREW)
Winemaker’s Notes:
Our racy white chardonnay begins with an enticing nose of ripe green apple and orange blossom. Dry and crisp, this white wine follows through with a substantial hint of apple and pear, laced with lime. The firm minerality comprises a startlingly refreshing finish.

A pleasant surprise. When I read the label and saw that this wine was 13.2% alc/vol I was ready for some heat on my palate. It turned out not really to be an issue at all.
Lots of acidity in this wine. It is crisp, clean with fruit forward flavours of green apples. There is a little heat on the finish but this was to be expected.
A hint of tannin which suggest to me that this wine may have seen a little bit of oak or was blended with a small about of oaked chardonnay. (This is unconfirmed).
Good, medium length finish.
Totally agree with you. I liked this wine and believe there is some oak in it too. You are right it does have high alcohol. I felt a little tipsy after just one glass. Not that it was a bad thing. Just be careful when drinking this wine because for a chardonnay it will hit you hard and before you know it.
When visiting the Colchester Ridge Estate Winery we decided to take part in the wine degustation. We tasted 5 different wines – this one was close to perfect.
