Wanda and I tasted this one together. We both agreed that it actually smelled better than it tasted.
Nose was like strawaberry jam, had lots of candied fruit and was quite inviting. I liked where this one was going!
Unfortunatly it was too hot to really be enjoyed. Had one hell of a burn in the mouth which trumped the fruit. This is more like medicine than wine.
Price, well you know my thoughts by now if you have read any other review of Black Bear Farms wines. It’s expensive!
Right on with your comments. This one had too much alcohol to really enjoy. Some of their other wines were much better. I also agree that their wines are expensive.
WE VISITED THIS WINERY ON A WINE TOUR AND THOUGH IT WAS SILLY TASTING THE WINE OUT OF THOSE LITTLE PLASTIC CUPS. tHERE WAS A COUPLE WE DID LIKE BUT DIDN’T BUY ANY BECAUSE THEY COST TOO MUCH FOR WHAT YOU GET. WE TRIED PAPAS SPECIAL RESERVE AND THOUGH IT TASTED LIKE COUGH MEDICINE.
We bought this wine on a recent tour with a group to many winerys in Essex County. This was one of my favorite wines I tried all weekend. It had a very different taste that was enjoyable. We plan to visit again to purchase more.
To Fruit Wine Lover.
Thank you for your fruit wine reviews on EssexWineReview.com
Which other fruit wines at Black Bear would you recommend? I do plan on visiting again real soon as would like to purchase wines recommended by those who like fruit wines.
All the best,
Gary Killops
Very pleased with this wine. Good favour and enjoyable to sip on it’s own. It is more expensive than grape wine but when I consider what the wine is made up with and no additives and from a small winery just getting started the wine is excellent. Plan to return soon.
