Black Bear Farms Black Currant Review
Winemaker’s Notes:
Pure black currant wine made from our finest black currants on our farm. This wine is our winemaker’s favourite! It carries the true essence of black currant and is a favourite to pair with pork dishes and offers a refreshing drink.

Visually shows good concentration with just a slight fading near the rim. Shows it’s quality.
Nose a bit shy, I had chilled this fruit wine and did give it time to warm up a but but it never really did open up. The fruit was noticed on the nose, just was never powerful.
Medium body with good texture and mouthfeel. Fruit ripeness was noticed right away. Lively acidity and a nice hit of sweetness for balance. Lots of black currant fruit tasted in this one.
Would be nice to serve as an apéritif.
Price is still a bit of an issue for me. $18 for a 1/2 bottle (375 mL) of wine is steep. This is equal to a $36 750 mL bottle of local wine. You won’t find too many in this price range. Perhaps some icewines but knowing how hard it is to harvest icewine and how little juice is sqeezed from those frozen grapes I am not sure this can be used as a comparison.
Another fruit wine that was very good. Maybe not as good as Papa’s Special Reserve but still right up there. I enjoy the different taste that fruit lwines like this have to offer.
Just bought another bottle os this wine. Enjoy it very much. The aroma of the wine is excellent and I ebjoy sipping this wine at room temperature
