Colio Estate Vineyards 2008 Gamay Noir 

There is not a large production of Gamay Noir in Essex county and when it does find its way into a bottle of wine it is often used as a blending grape.

Colio's Gamay Noir is Lake Erie North Shore only 100% Gamay wine!

Tasty spice and black pepper notes along with a nice balance of cherry fruits are the recipe for this delicious red wine.

This wine offers earthy vharacteristics with a hint of melon and green tea. An engaging white wine that would be wonderully paired with srong cheeses, chicken, steamed fish or salad. Serve slightly chilled.

Winemaker’s Notes:
Medium Bodied. This Chardonnay releases a vibrant, tropical nose of melon, banana, and a hint of mineral. The palate is very fruity and shows pineapple, and melon. Excellent when paired with tropical fruits, salad, and salmon.

Winemaker’s Notes:
A light-hearted, fruity wine that packs lots of refreshment.

The grapes were harvested in the month of September when they had reached 19 brix. They were fermented for a four-week period in temperature controlled steel tanks.

The reason this is one of our most popular wines is due to it being a great compliment to so many different foods. This wine is best suited to light cuisine such as poultry or seafood, or as a pleasantly dry aperitif. Serve well chilled.

This wine is our Dad’s favourite as it is a unique special blend of red and purple raspberries made from the finest hand picked berries grown here on the farm. Named for our Dad this wine became famous when it earned a Gold Medal at the 2009 All Canadian Wine Championships. This wine has become a popular after dinner wine.

Winemaker’s Notes:
Sauvignon Blanc is a relatively new variety to the Island (planted in 1994), shows it’s typical grassy, herbaceous and green fruit aromas. This is a wine that is very cool fermented, which brings out citrus flavours that linger on the finish.

Winemakers Notes: Damp spring weather in the Lake Erie North Shore provided ample moisture to carry through a very dry June and July, while the timely August rain and fairly dry autumn set the stage for a bountiful harvest of good quality fruit.
