Winemaker’s Notes:
Our well-known and medaled Vidal is a lovely off-dry white wine with delightful floral-citrus bouquet, mild citrus on the palate, with apple, pear, kiwi, pleasant finish. Matched with appetizers, seafood, shell fish, white meats, pates, fruits and cheese.

I keep forgetting how good vidal can be and at this time of year when temperatures start to hit the 30 degree celius mark here in southwest Ontario a chilled vidal can make a wonderful sipper in the evening.
This new Vidal release from Erie Shore Vineyard is as good, and I think may be even better than their last vidal. Gushing with treed fruit nose and taste such as lemons, green apples, peach, and pear this is one complex wine. I wasn’t expecting so much and it delivered.
The nose and taste also have an interesting mineral note to add even more complexity. As my glass of wine warmed closer to room temperature this mineral was more defined as a hint of sulphur (match stick)
It’is a sweet wine with one heck of a long finish. I have to believe the wine maker let these grapes sit on the vine a little longer than normal to give it this extra sweetness.
Priced at under $10 this cheap enough to buy by the case. Chill a few to have ready any hot summer evening.
UPDATE: I received an email suggesting that sulpher is a wine fault. My reply …. Yes it can be however most wine faults in small amounts can actually add some complexity to the wine. I believe that is the case here. You probably will not even notice this taste if you chill this wine. I only noticed it as the wine warmed closer to room temperature.

This wine is one of my favorites. I enjoy it during the summer.
