Viewpointe Barrel Fermented Chardonnay 2006 Review
Ideal Pointe 2006
Winemaker’s Notes:
Aroma: buttery rich baked apple, with tropical fruit, spicy oak, vanilla and butter.
Palate: Dry with good acidity, mid to heavy weight.
Award winning wine is big on the attack, with great oak/butter/vanilla filling in the mid palate, and ripe tannins on the long clean finish.

This could very well be the signature wine for Viewpointe Estate Winery.
Barrel fermented chardonnays often are an oak bomb. Not so is the case here as this one has a nice balance of acidity, fruit and oak.
With 14.6% alc/vol I was a bit concerned that it may be a little bit hot on the palate however I didn’t notice any issues.
Nose offers pears, honeysuckle, and oak. Taste follows the same line with some added flavours of butterscotch and hazel nuts.
Very long finish.
As of April 17th, 2010, it has not been officially released yet. They want it to spend a little more time in the bottle before the public gets their hands on this one. I think it’s ready and just as good as their 2005 Barrel Fermented Chardonnay. A MUST buy when visiting Lake Erie North Shore.
WE LOVED IT. TRY IT WITH SHRIMP IN BUTTER. SO GOOD!
