This wine is not quite as it seems, but for all the right reasons.

The winemaker's notes describe this as an unoaked chardonnay. Pour some into a glass and note the hints of oak. Yes, oak can be tasted too.

This is the winemaker's craft. Taking a good chardonnay, adding a little bit of their oaked chardonnay (4% I am told) with an end result that is sure to please all chardonnay wine drinkers. Chardonnays can be a bit boring, the winemaker has found a way to make this one more interesting.

The nose offers a nice hint of lemony citrus up front along with that hint of oak.

Taste: nice crisp acidity and cirus on the attack followed shortly afterward by the hint of oak. Interesting mineral notes near the finish, I don't find this a lot in Lake Erie North Shore wines so it is a real treat. The wine has a nice medium bodied mouthfeel.

Offers a lot for the price!
