Sanson Riesling 2008 Review
Winemaker’s Notes:
This is really good stuff! The nose is textbook German Mosel with complex notes of green apples, flinty mineral and classic hints of petrol. The palate is drier that a typical German wine though – French Alsace through and through – with lots of bracing acidity. The kicker is this is all Ontario and a beautiful example of a truly world class Riesling. Drink it now with soft, runny cheeses or some fresh Lake Erie Perch… or if you have the self control, sit on it through 2020. Great Riesling will cellar beautifully and this one is just that.

Wow, wow … triple wow!!
I am currently on vacation in Orlando, Florida and just returned from an afternoon at EPCOT. While there I stopped in at France in the World Showcase. They have a nice little wine shop and tasting bar there. While there I picked up a few rieslings from the Alsace region of France.
I always bring along a few local bottles of wine when I go away. This Sanson riesling was one of them.
If you have ever tried a good riesling from Alsace, France and liked it this Sanson riesling is for you!.
The nose is not overwelming or powerful but the taste is classic Alsace style. Nice acidity, mineral and petrol notes. Zesty with hints of peach.
Finish lingers and lingers. This is an excellent local riesling.
