Aleksander Estate Baco Noir 2008 Review
Winemaker’s Notes:
Reflections of 2008 include all the gamuts of the weather spectrum occurring at the appropriate time.
The 2008 Baco Noir offers depth in both colour and flavour. This full-bodied wine is intense with dark berry undertones and black pepper aromas. The flavours of black cherry are followed by a creamy finish. Pair wiith game meats, beefsteak or hearty stews.

Although the notes printed on the label are almost identical to Aleksander’s 2007 Baco the taste of this vintage is very different.
The 2007 vintage was excellent with BBQ’ed steaks, this one is more a pizza wine.
The nose screams of ripe red fruits, red licorice, some earthiness and something sweet (sweetness). Interesting and complex.
Taste: Similiar to the nose. some of the sweetness is picked up on the tip of the tongue. Good balance, and a hint of tannin picked up near the finish. Yes this is a nice “pizza wine”.
Some thoughts on this wine. I think this wine will fall into the either you like it or not club. Those who like jammy baco’s may not like this one. It has some sweetness that will separate a few. It’s worth a try, especially those who are not big Baco fans, this one may change your opinion.
