Tasted this blend over two evenings as I wanted to see just how well it would hold up a day after opening and note the changes. I am happy to report that there really was much change. After opening I did recork and store in the refrigerator overnight.
Visually this does not show any signs of aging. Good legs that were displayed shortly after a good swirl showing the 13% alcohol.
Nose was complex but not overwhelming. I picked up hints of black cherries, leather, plums and the day after opening also noted some hints of chocolate.
Like the nose the taste was also complex. Lots of cherry, plums, and pepper. Good balance with soft tannins near the finish. The finish itself hung around for quite some time.
This is a very good wine, at an excellent price.
Good balance.
This wine uses a synthetic cork.
I don’t think there is a wine from Viewpointe that I do not like. They are all very good. This wine reminded me of black currants and oak. It has a nice savoury taste. We bought 3 and should have bought more.
I agree. This wine and a chardonnay from Viewpointe Winery are excellent. Don’t you just love visiting there!
