Pelee Island Merlot Reserve 2008 Review
Winemaker’s Notes:
One of our fullest reds, with the warmhearted character that Merlot fans enjoy. A good balance of richness, mellow sweet flavours and the essential bite for food. Delicious now but could be aged a year or two.
These grapes were left on the vine until early October.
This wine would be excellent slightly chilled and served with a beef or lamb dish. A superb choice for the summer BBQ or dinner table.

Why more people are not talking about this wine is beyond me. It is an excellent wine.
Nose: very earthy, rich dark soil. Hints of red cherries.
Taste: Earthy soil as to be expected. cherries, plums.
While this wine is not too complex this wine has nice balance and a nice medium finish. Soft tannins on the finish for a dry mouthfeel.
Very enjoyable right now, and should age well and soften a bit on the finish. This wine will be a great backyard BBQ wine this summer!
