Had the misfortune of once again sampling this wine. I reread my original review and realized I was much too kind the first time. By God, this is a 2007, what happened? I thought this was supposed to be one of the best vintages for this region.

I don't mind the wines coming from this new winery, many are quite nice but this is one of the worst attempts at such a wonderful varietal.

Good luck next time.

I usually enjoy Pinot Noir but have yet to find one from this appellation that I truly love. I have to agree with Gary on this wine. Perhaps cellaring this for a very long period of time will until help soften or forgotten all together.

A couple things that I should note right at the start about this wine. My first tasting was so-so but that was due to a bad pairing. Also give this wine time to breath and it tastes much better.

I opened my bottle of Sprucewood Shores Pinot Noir just as i started the BBQ. Pork tenderloin covered in garlic seasoning was on the menu. Pork tenderloin without the seasoning may have been ok for this wine however the garlic and other spices really muted the taste of the wine so I put away the wine, opened a bottle of Cab Franc which seemed to pair much better.

It was about 24 hours later when I went back and tasted the Pinot Noir.

First thing I noticed was the nose was much bigger now. I now could pick up hints of oak, strawberry, and an interest beetroot aroma. The nose was mild, but this is not a big red wine so I wasn’t expecting too much.

Taste also really improved in the 24 hours after the bottle had been opened. It’s a Pinot Noir so it is still a lighter red wine. Noted the beetroot in the taste followed by the dry mouthfeel which may be due to the tannins.

This wine may benefit from a little more cellar time in the bottle before drinking. For now, pair with mild cheeses or just enjoy it as a sipper.

Bottle prices of many local Pinot Noirs is in the $20+ range making this one an excellent value.
