Hmmmm …. this wine does not appear on Smith & Wilson’s web site so I emailed them about a week ago asking if they had any wine maker’s notes on this wine or a few other wines that I picked up.
I haven’t heard back from them, hopefully they are not ignoring me. In any event this leaves me with a kind of blind taste test. Not really knowing what wine I am drinking other than it is white and it is VQA.
So lets have a look at the wine and I will see if I can figure this one out. Nice clear wine with hints of straw in the colour. Nose has some citrus.
Taste, yes the citrus is still there along with a sweet aftertaste. Finish is long. Very nice sipper.
My first thought is that this is a riesling but there was a certain smoothness to this wine much like their Sauvignon Blanc.
I wonder if this is a blended wine? Sauvignon Blanc blended with riesling or vidal? The name of the wine “End Of The Line” should give me some clues you would think … but it doesn’t. I assume that this is the last batch of juice or juices, perhaps blended so their would be wnough to bottle a batch.
Smith & Wilson make excellent wines. I don’t think I have ever been disapointed. This one … whatever it is, is excellent!
