Aleksander Estate Cabernet Franc 2007 Review
Winemaker’s Notes:
A great vintage year is the best reason to sip fine wine. 2007 was hot, dry and long with endless summer days providing the ideal conditions for rich concentrated wines.
With its beautiful garnet colour, the Cabernet Franc opens with the juicy flavours of red berries and cherries. Berry flavours linger in the finish. Best served with slow roasted back ribs, grilled veal and lamb chops.

Have you ever had a bottle of wine that you just wish would never be empty or perhaps knowing it’s your last sip and stretching it for all its worth? Or wishing that you had another bottle that you could open so that you could continue the evening enjoying it?
If the answer is yes then read on….
I chilled my bottle of Aleksander’s Cabernet Franc before dinner. (I used the 20 minute rule in the refrigerator). Dinner was pork chops from Costco (They are the best boneless pork chops around, nice and thick, excellent for BBQing)
The chops were excellent, seasoned with some garlic, served with some fresh local yellow peppers and potatos smothered in butter.
Aleksander’s Cab Franc is not a BIG RED wine, it doesn’t have a big oaky taste (in fact I wonder if it was oak barreled at all) ….. BUT that is okay … it doesn’t need that oakiness even though that is what I expect from a Cab Franc, I enjoyed it this way.
This is a fruit forward wine. Lots of plums, cherries and other red fruits on the nose. Taste echoes the nose. Very fruity followed by a nice hit of dry tannins in the mouth.
This is one excellent wine that can be sipped on (because it is not a big red) or pair it with just about anything you cook on a BBQ.
At $14 a bottle, this is an excellent value, dare I say a steal!
I don’t say this too often, but this is one wine I plan on buying a case of.
