Winemaker’s Notes:
The Gamay Noir grapes were harvested in early October when the brix had reached 21.4 and the Zweigelt in mid-September, when the brix had reached 20. They were then left for four to six days in a temperature-controlled rotor fermenter under partial pressure.

This wine is an excellent companion to red meats and game without sauces.

This wine has lots of vitality. Quite tangy, dry and refreshing so it really livens the palate and makes you hungry. These grape varieties produce a wine with a bright, cheerful character.

Here is a nice blend of red wines from Pelee Island Winery. It’s affordable and taste very good.

Not a lot of tannans in this one which makes it a good sipping wine.

Cherry red colour. Some cherry notes in the nose.
Taste is refreshing, hints of cherry again along with a bit of tobacco. It’s simple and enjoyable to drink.

One suggestion, just before serving this wine chill it for about 10 to 15 minutes. It taste a little better this way.

This is a good backyard sipper over the summer. Its smooth and easy with a nice finish.

This is one of my favorite “easy drinking” wines. It is quite fruit forward in taste and aroma but the Zweigelt adds enough spice to make it interesting. Great value – it would make a great house wine in my own home.
A little light on the tannins for my personal taste but the spice tones bring me back to loving this wine. Plus the flying squirrel is cute.
I agree with Gary, chill it to below room temperature – or “bring it down” as a waiter once said to me. I’m only glad I knew what he was talking about.

This wine is being served at the Red Brick Cafe this month.
I have paired it with the Olympic event of ski aerials in my series of Olympic wine pairings. http://pullthecork.wordpress.com/

    Great choice!

BTW …. you are probably serving the 2008 vintages which is currently the one available at LCBO’s. I have a bottle of that one here, just need to photograph the bottle and do a tasting so that I can add it. Promise I will work on that and get it done soon!
