    Very nice blend.

What struck me the most about this wine was the big tannins and oak. Don’t worry, you won’t miss them. The tannins smack you right in the face followed by a nice shot of oak.

We don’t see a lot of petit verdot in this area. It’s a grape most often used in blends and does add tannins.

While certainly not a sipper this wine pairs well with beef.

This unusual blend is very nice and is worth a try.

Black cherried colour with aromas of black cherry, earth, almonds and dark chocolate. Ontario reds are always challenged by innate sourness and there is no escaping the sourness here despite the hot growing conditions of 2007. The rich aromas do not translate onto the palate here which is a bit thin with a short finish. Petit verdot’s blazing frutiness tries to rescue cabernet sauvignon here. So here we have a simple wine made inviting by a rich nose but falls apart a bit on the palate. Drink now.
