This wine has always been consistent and delish, quite frankly one of my favourite summer whites. I have not yet tried this vintage yet but assuming its like all the other years it will be a keeper in my cellar. Have to make my way to the winery soon.
If you liked Mastronardi’s 2006 BriAnjë Riesling you will want to put this one on your wine list to purchase.
I enjoyed the 2006 and believe that this one is even better. It is a little sweeter, with a bigger floral aroma and taste.
Take your time with this wine and enjoy the nose. It is wonderful. I don’t know of any other local wine that has such a nice floral bouquet. Enjoy it!
Taste is smooth from beginning to end. Notes of pineapple and some other tropical fruits. Finish is quite long.
Very enjoyable alone or with a nice chicken dinner.
This wine has been selected for the LCBO Vintages Program and should be a good seller priced at only $15.
If you like Rieslings, don’t miss this one. Excellent! Buy it.
Rich golden colour. A nose that is bursting with grapefruit, marzipan, honeysuckle, quince and peaches. On the palate a good follow through of honey, peaches and a touch of pink grapefruit bitterness. Unlike traditional reislings there is very little acidic tension in this wine. The finish is short and very hightoned. I can swear this is a vidal! Despite the massive nose this wine is refreshing and light. Unfortunately it’s weakness is a cat’s pee smell as it warms up. A hallmark characteristic of NZ sauvignon blancs. My advice is to serve this very chilled and keep the pours light so no chance of a warm up. Food match is take out Chinese on a Wednesday night!
Robert, the current vintage is the 2008 Mastronardi BriAnjë Riesling. Your review of the 2007 Vintage was available in some LCBO Vintages locations. Give the 2008 a try as it is quite different.
