Aleksander Estate Chardonnay 2008 Review
Winemaker’s Notes:
Reflections of 2008 include all gamuts of the weather spectrum occurring at the appropriate time producing wines that are as diverse as the weather. They were born in and just as Mother nature intended. The results of the late spring, a hot and dry summer, and a cool harvest season are aromatic a richly flavoured wines to be enjoyed for years to come.
This unoaked Chardonnay is full-bodied and dry combining red apple, rose water and honey notes with a soft finish.
Food Pairings:
Sure to be a great match with pasta in cream sauce, grilled salmon or crusty breads and cheeses.

I used Aleksander Estates 2007 Chardonnay as my benchmark to judge all other local Chardonnays by. It was the best local chardonnay and I believe it still is.
The 2008 Chardonnay is very good and it wasn’t going to be an easy task topping last years excellent chardonnay, and unfortunately it didn’t.
However … it is still a very good wine. It is new in the bottle and may still be suffering from a little bit of bottle shock so I promise to revisit this wine later in the summer with an update.
If you were not to compare the 2008 chardonnay with the 2007 I think you would be very pleased with this one. In fairness, Aleksander’s 2007 Chardonnay set the bar very high and it wasn’t going to be easy to achieve again.
This wine has a wonderful bouquet. Flowery and fruiting and some hints of melon. Also some very nice wine tears which is a good sign.
Same citrus and melons notes as last year but lacks that same full-bodied mouthfeel of the 2007. Very nice citrus finish that last for quite some time.
Priced at just under $13 this wine is an excellent value. This is a very good chardonnay that I am sure will get even better this sumer. Pick this one up when you veisit Aleksander’s Estate Winery.
Listen….this is simply the best Chardonnay that you can buy at any price. One of my all time favs. Aleksander Estates is a treasure.
