When I picked this wine up at Wagnet Estate Winery I was told that the grape is Cabernet Sauvignon.
There is slight sweetness in the wine up front but it is quickly cancelled by the dry taste from the tannins. It’s a simple wine, there is a mild oak taste that usually comes from oak chips being added rather than oak barrelling the wine.
Taste was better when I first opened the bottle yesterday. I did a taste test 24 hours after the bottle was opened and noted that the taste was a little flat.
It’s not a bad wine but at $13 there are better local Cabernet Sauvignons in this price range.

I’m not sure if this was Wagner’s attempt at competing with Lady in Red and Girl’s Night Out offered up by fellow local wine makers but I think it hits the mark.
It has that catchy label that seems to attract women and it simply states “Red Wine” which does it for many women I know who aren’t too picky about their reds.
I think the dark ruby red colour holds well along with the fuity nose. The fruit, more specifically dark cherry came through when I tasted the wine leading me to believe it is mostly a Cabernet Sauvignon blend but I’m not keen enough to figure out the mix.
Overall I have to say this is an easy drinking wine that went well with a meat and chesse tray I had out. The gals gave it two thumbs up also.
