The winery was sampling this wine a few weeks ago with a breast cancer awareness campaign, this was a great idea with the pink ribbons etc, however the wine was much to be desired. I found the wine to be very acidic, although sweet not as pleasant as I would have expected a blush to be. I did not pick up the strawberries as the winemaker indicates. The wine left a long strange taste in my mouth that perhaps reminded me a bit of sour cherries. The wine is made from Baco Noir grapes that often produces a very heavy jam like red wine - this grape selection is not the best choice for a rose.
As for the wine not being a VQA product may also indicate the wine did not meet the VQA standards of quality. I usually enjoy the wines from this winery, but I am especially fond of their fruit wines; perhaps next year they try this style of wine using a different grape.

When I think of a Rosé wine I think of a light almost pink coloured wine. Many of the local Rosé are this colour. Aleksander Estate Winery's Rosé is far from pink.

It is a strawberry/ cherry light red colour, darker than any other local Rosé.

Rosé is not a wine that I drink often but when I do I usually enjoy it.

I really enjoyed this one. It is fruity with hits of a nice strawberry finish. Hangs around for quite some time. This is a nice sipper.

This wine gets its red from Baco Noir, Kind of an odd choice but it works so who cares.

Because this wine is not VQA it probably will not be found in local restaurants (unless you go to one that allows you to bring your own wine) so you will have to head to Aleksander Estate Winery to get this one. It is worth the drive to Ruthven to buy this one.
