Mastronardi Zweigelt 2006 Review
Winemaker’s Notes:
This wine has a pronounced fruity bouquet and becomes rounder and finer with aging. The nose has expressions of black cherries with a surprise black pepper finish. High complexity, well balanced, ripe and soft tannins. This Zweigelt is great by itself or enjoy with beef and barbecues.

I am very impressed with this wine.
Before you take your first sip of this wine please spend some time sniffing it. The nose has so much going on, and it is a real treat that you don’t want to miss. I am not a smoker but every now and then the aroma of a certain pipe tobacco just grabs me and takes me back to the day when my father took up pipe smoking.
The nose is full of tobacco, spices, blueberries and earthy dark soil notes. There is so much going on, take your time and enjoy the nose.
When you first sip this wine you will discover that this red wine is dry. There is a dusty taste that makes the wine very interesting and enjoyable. I picked up some cherry, oak and pepper notes however it was the dusty notes that lingered long after the others where gone.
It’s a great value at just $10. and is just as good as many wines that are twice the price.
I’m heading to Mastronardi’s Winery this weekend to pick up a few more bottles of this wine to have on hand. It’s a nice wine to pair with BBQ’s and pizzas.
