This wine is almost $30 so it had better be good, right? Not to worry …..
It is …. but it is also a wine that is NOT for everyone and is not a sipping wine. You will need to pair this wine with some good food to really enjoy it.
For those who like unoaked chardonnay, this one may not be for you. It is oaky. You will notice this in in the after taste of the wine.
Viewpoint’s Barrel Fermented Chardonnay is a full bodied white wine. The nose has wonderful hints of bananna and almond with a hint of citrus.
I really enjoyed the taste of this wine. Very earthy, smoky, a hint of citrus followed by an amazing oak-infused that I have not found in any other oaked chardonnays.
I paired this wine with some BBQed chicken. it has been a cold winter and I hardly have been outside enough to fire up the BBQ so I was glad excited that the temps today really warmed up making this a perfect day for BBQing.
BBQ chicken, and a garden salad with thousand Island dressing paired well with this wine. I think it would also be nice with pasta and a creamy sauce.
If you like white wine (chardonnay) with an oaky finish you will like this wine.
