A slight herbaceous edge along with some sweet cherry fruits. I noted bell pepper last time and still do. Good acidity and soft silky tannins. Light and refreshing with a long finish. With no information on the wine bottle and no information on Sprucewood's web site about this wine I didn't know what I was get myself into when I opened this one for dinner today. Dinner was a nice roast, along with baked potatos and a California salad. I opened the wine just before dinner was served so there was very little time to aerate wine and let it breath. My french is not that good but I assume "Deux Rouge" in English is "Two Reds". So what are the two reds? I have send an email into the winemaker asking for the answer however until then here is my guess..... The wine reminded me alot of Pelee Island's red Eco Trail which is a blend of 85% Cabernet Franc and 15% Chambourcin. On the nose I picked up green peppers, and a floral bouquet. It's nice. There is a nice oak taste to the wine. Not overwelming, it just appears near the finish. It's a very well balanced wine. East and enjoyable to drink. Priced at just $11.95 this wine it is well worth the price and is better than many $15 - $20 blended wines. I love surprises and this wine was a very good surprise.
