Smith & Wilson Raleigh Vines Merlot-Cabernet Franc 2006 Review
Winemaker’s Notes:
Merlot/Cabernet Franc, dry
Dark red spice and fruit mélange showcasing cloves, tobacco and blackberries followed by a whiff of pepper. Our Raleigh Vines is a fresh, light tasting red with the perfect blend of spice and berries. The finish is smooth and silky; tannins are soft on the mouth.
Try Raleigh Vines with a salad of greens, blue cheese and toasted pecans topped with balsamic vinaigrette. It also pairs well with Chicken Cacciatore and veal or pork tenderloin dishes.
Price: 750 mL $14

We had Smith & Wilson Raleigh Vines along with our Sunday dinner consisting of roast beef, mushrooms, potato and green beans.
The nose not overly aromatic, there was a hint of tobacco leaves.
I decanded this wine for several hours before tasting.
The wine had a good sense of body and well balanced. The tannins were not overwhelming. Like the nose there was a hint of tobacco leaves in the taste.
Nice wine for a family dinner.
