Let me start by saying that Rosé is not my thing. I usually will avoid them but when I was at D’Angelo Estate Winery and saw this one for only $8 I picked it up. That was about a month ago and I have been looking at that wine bottle ever since wondering when I would finally give it a go.

Last night was the night. We were finally putting up our Christmas tree and had opened a Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais Nouveau (I know, I know … this s not a local wine. It was a gift and you are supposed to drink Beaujolais Nouveau right away, so Wanda and I did.)

After the Beaujolais Nouveau was gone, the tree up I decided that tonight was the night to open the Rosé.

D’Angelo Estate Monarch Rosé is a darker red than most Rosé I have seen. The taste reminded me a lot of “Jolly Roger” candies. It is sweet.

    This Rosé was ok. Average.

    A smooth bargain!
Like Gary I’m not usually a Rose fan either but I buy it for my female friends or family pretending I am impartial.
I picked up a bottle a few weeks ago on one of my bargain shopping adventure tours around the county and had to make a purchase after enjoying the sample and seeing the bargain price.

I couldn’t decide on a red for the ribs I just threw on the Q and decided to lighten the mood since I would be catching some rays on the patio while cooking.

The colour appeared normal in the house but took on more of an orange hue in the sunlight. Whites give me a problem at times with the Nose but I did pick up some fruit. I am a fan of both the Chambourcin and Vidal grapes in this blend, thus the light fruity flavour the probably the reason I like it.

I found it a very smooth sipper on it’s own and I finsihed the bottle with my Spare Ribs. All was good! I do like a cool beverage in the warm weather and I think this wine fits the bill as a premier patio wine.
