Aleksander Estate Shiraz 2006 Review
Winemaker Notes:
Not just in Australia anymore! This big, bold red, is full of dark fruit flavours, red currants, and liquorice with a hint of spice. This is the wine you bring home to show off. Enjoy it now or lay it down for 6 to 8 years if you can! Enjoy with prime rib, pepper steak or roast venison.

A shiraz from Essex County? This is one I had to try and I am glad I did. The wine is a nice deep red colour. sniffing the wine I didn’t pick up much at all so I was a bit worried. All concerns were gone when I tasted this wine. The taste of sweet cherries was the first thing that came to mind. Oh so good.
The winemaker suggests having this wine with prime rib, pepper steak or roast venison. Wanda and I shared our bottle of this wine with white rice tippoed with chicken, broccoli, and carrots and it seemed to be a nice pairing for both the food and the wine.
I am putting this one on my list to buy a few more bottles to try again in a year or two.
My only concern with this wine is the price. At almost $20 a bottle it is on the expensive side for any shiraz. Many imports are even cheaper. Other than that, very nice wine.
