Mastronardi Cabernet Franc 2006 Review
Winemaker’s Notes:
The Aromas are lightly herbaceous with a hint of plum and sweet wood. This wine is light to medium bodied with subtle flavours of black cherry. The well integrated tannins prolong the finish. Match with earthy grilled vegetables, prime rib, stews and duck.

Cabernet Franc is one of the most popular varieties of red wine grape in Essex County and Southwestern Ontario. Most of the Wineries in the Essex region have a Cabernet Franc wine on their list.
Matronardi’s Cabernet Franc 750 ml bottles are available from their winery store location for about $17. This is a bit more expensive than other local 2006 Cabernet Franc wines which is still very reasonable.

I enjoyed this wine. It is one of my favourite Cabernet Franc wines from the Essex County region. This wine is perfect for a backyard BBQ where steak is on the menu. Compared to other red wines in the area this one was a bit pricey but still an excellent value.
The wine itself has a nice dark red colour. The aroma I got from the wine was a smoking oak.
I am going to buy this one again real soon.

Very good wine.
Here is yet one more good wine coming out of this new winery. Picked up a bottle of this wine at the Roundhouse LCBO (nice to see the winery is taking this one the road) I would say this is a medium bodied Cabernet Franc, perfect balance on the oak. I like a mild Cab Franc as it is already so peppery and fruity. This is my choice for my Sunday Roast beef dinner.
I am a white wine drinker but did enjoy their cabernet franc. You just can’t go wrong with any of their wines.
[...] by the Roundhouse LCBO and picked up two bottles of Cabernet Franc. The two I picked up were Mastronardi Cabernet Franc 2006 and Erie Shore Cabernet Franc 2006. Both are the same vintage, both are VQA wines from Lake Erie [...]
